A message from VCS Ohio’s 2006 valedictorian, Lauren Stanfield…

There are many different circumstances and reasons why all of us came to VCS. Having the opportunity to go to VCS is very special to me. Prior to my junior and senior year, I went to a private school, but my whole life revolves around showing horses very competitively. Being in a private school, I was unable to live my life how I wanted it to be. So after many years of talking to my parents, I was able to go to VCS my junior year. This allowed me to travel with my horse to all the shows across the country without worrying about getting behind with my school work. VCS has given me many opportunities that I would not have had if I have not gone here. We should all be thankful for what VCS has done for us.

The stress of late night studying, endless exams, and college applications are now behind us. As we sit here, thousands of memories run through our minds, and we nostalgically reflect on our many wonderful experiences over the past four years.

Now, when we go out into the big world, we need to remind ourselves to be color blind and be great at what we love. My advice to is go into the world and do what you love not for prestige, not for the money, not for someone else but for you and what you love and greatness will be done! The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know but by who we are. Remember through the years ahead of you the famous words of Henry ford, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right. Congratulations class of 2006, we did it!!!!
